In reading the below postings, my first impulse was "say what?"

Then I read it again... and again... I see Mark's point.

My interpretation his use of the word "hole" means that they can tend to be
a detractor, keeping our eyes off of the mission and calling of being a
commander.

Commander first, and then, FCF. There is no room for FCF if the members
lose sight of the mission: "Reach, Teach and Keep Boys for Christ"

Honor Bound has its place for Men, but Commanders are called to reach boys.

Sure, Commander's can be men who are involved in HonorBound! Afterall, the
Men's Ministry of the church should be a vital part of Royal Rangers and
vice versa.

There are many times when Commanders minister to each other (as well they
shouild). FCF activities are a prime example of such comradship,
brotherhood, mentorship and ... yes... servanthood. The Young Bucks who see
this going on become involved and become deeply comitted boys, and later...
Ministers, Commanders, Missionaries, etc.

I was a Young Buck for a while, looking with pride and ear to ear smiles
when I was able to just be 'one of the guys' around my Commanders at FCF
Traces. It's a Commander/Boy relationship that is hardly understood, except
through personal experience... a relationship that has roots deeper than one
might imagine than on regular camp-outs and Wednesday nights. My FCF
memories are some of the greatest memories I have from my teenage years...
when I needed strong Christian values and a need to belong. My Trail Ranger
commander was my FCF Sponsor and I still have a warm spot in my heart and
memories for him and all the other Commanders during that time who accepted
me for who I was, and mentored me in many areas.

On the otherhand, Honor Bound, Promise Keepers, etc. all have their place
too. *We* happen to be called to be Commanders, others are called, and can
be ministered to in other ministry areas. There is no competition between
the ministries where MINISTRY is the point of being involved. If one of us
is called out of Rangers into one of these other vital ministries, then
Praise the Lord.

Rangers, FCF, Honor Bound, etc... they're all vital ministries, but in many
cases, they are merely stepping blocks to other vital ministry areas....
training up a child in the way he should go, so in the end, he'll not
depart... that doesn't always mean Rangers.

Remember the Mission: Reach, Teach and Keep Boys for *Christ*... not for
Rangers.

Blessings,

Royal Rangers without F.C.F.
This sounds like the cake without the icing.
