Dear Rangernetters:
God is so good all of the time. This weekend I attended BSTC. Praise God I
can't think of five straight minutes when I didn't feel his presence.
During our song class Chief Faye Spence (been in RR since it started her OP is
#12) was teaching. By the third or forth song we were having church. We
finally became aware of another lodge circled around us in silence. The
presence of the Lord was so palpable that we had no idea they were there and
they just seemed in awe of what was happening.
We had Roderick Baker in our group who is with the Victory Life Center in
Oklahoma (if anyone has an EM address I would love to have it) he has a weekly
ministry of 2000 kids (yes, 2000)! Needless to say he knows how to live and
have in fun Christ and get serious in the Power of the Spirit. The first
thing he did when we got away from everyone was to say the key to this thing
(BSTC) is to cut loose and get out of yourself. So we determined that the
entire camp would know we were there. Boy, did they ever know that the Navajo
Lodge was in the house. God sent this man (Rod) to teach us. If he saw
someone who looked in pain or upset he did not ask them if they wanted prayer.
He told them we want to pray for you. And we did. Such boldness I want.
We also had the National Coordinator for B/SA (correct title?) Scott and his
wife Lynn (can't remeber their last name for the life of me, but Lynn's dad
Ralph Williams was our Council Director). They spoke for us and were a
wonderful blessing.
I had prayed that this weekend would be a blessing so powerful as to be beyond
my wildest dreams. I prayed that I would not just enter his gates with
thanksgiving in my heart or enter his courts with praise, I wanted to go
further. I wanted to go into the Holy of Holies. I feel like I have. Even
while I was memorizing scripture or rules or working on a spare time projects
I was deep in the presence of the Lord (I asked Him for help w/memory and got
int the top 5). This weekend was like living in tears and glory. On the way
home memories would pop in my mind and the Power of the Spirt would just fall
in my car. I almost didn't make it to my house.
As for the Lakeview campgrounds, let me say that if any of you have a chance
to, go to Maypearl, TX.. They are beautiful. They have plenty of undeveloped
areas for actual camping, beautiful dorms, a lake where they are building
docks and getting boats, and they are building a 50 unit motel. You've got to
see this place. They are planning to make this a national meeting place of
great proportions.
The day BSTC was over I went to see my five year old get 3 Daisy badges and we
had a guest speaker who spoke about getting on the mountain top with the Lord.
It seemed to be the exclamation point at the end of my weekend. To quote the
song "If it keeps gettin' better and better oh Lord I don't know what I'm
gonna do.
I pray that the NTC next weekend and all of the training events in the coming
year are as blessed as BSTC was. I am sorry that this was so long. I just
wanted to share with you what a blessing we've had this past weekend.
God less you all richly,
Kelly Gist OP#201
