everyone,
we should not think that any of our local schools are exempt. i heard on the
news that the only common link in all these recent shootings are 1) rural
settings and 2) kids who are suicidal.
i drive a school bus in a nice quite rural area just north of cincinnati
ohio, Yes, we had the tornado earlier this month!!. Almost 4 yrs ago i was
given this poem by one of my students. i had it in my brief case and pulled
it out in light of the events of the last 36 hours. this young lady was in
trauma at that time, mother in jail, father not around, caring for herself
and her brother, who is now one of the "black trench coats" or "freaks" as
they are referred to at the school.
this is lengthy but shows just how desperate some of our kids are...

"long ago we gave into an evil god,
and for him, without reason, this ground we trod.

our weapons are drawn, our faces tense,
without one bit of common sense,

into the battle we will charge,
great in ranks, our numbers large,

we will fight the way we were taught,
until we're dead, until we're caught.

for a fleeting moment, we will pause,
thinking how can we do this, with what cause,

but we will march on with thundering feet,
fighting and killing all we meet.

standing in lines on a desolate field,
we're his mindless zombies, our senses are reeled.

we were lost and thought him found,
and for his foolish cause, we fight on this forsaken ground.

the battle rages on, our numbers are in great deplete,
but stupid us, we won't admit defeat,

all around us, the ground seems to bleed,
screams pierce the night, animals begin to feed

a crying child cuts into my one way thought,
along with a feeling of compassion i once forgot.

a single tear forms in my eye,
we don't have to do this, people don't have to die.

great God of heaven, on day I hope this will end,
and in the future we will walk along side the enemy as a friend.

kinda makes the sharing of the gospel more important doesn't it?
