Part of the repentance process and asking for forgiveness is being
responsible for our actions and accepting discipline. We don't know how
this girl was disciplined other than she is no longer school valedictorian.
Hopefully this was presented to her in the spirit of love.
Let us say that this girl robs a bank. And let us say she is caught and
offers to return the money. She promises that she is really sorry and she
will never do it again. Should she be punished? And if we don't punish her
would there be any bank that would be safe?
Why do some people want to punish some sins but then are so quick to forgive
sexual sins? What is sin... ANYTHING that is displeasing to God. Exodus
34:7 tells us that "...He does not leave the guilty unpunished..."
Are we obedient enough to accept discipline?
My $.02.
