Thinking of storing up some supplies for Y2K? Here are a few tips on water storage from Out N Back, an outdoor food & equipment retailer.
Most sources suggest storing at least one gallon of water per person for each day of emergency use. Any container you use should be clean, noncorrosive, and tightly covered.
Even water you store should be purified before using if it has been stored very long. To do this, strain your water through a clean cloth to remove any particles. Then add about 1/2 tablespoon of chlorine bleach for every 5 gallons of water (about 10 drops per gallon). Mix well and let sit for about 30 minutes before using.
