All,
How many times does your boys ask "Can we have recreation?",
even before you start the pledges? My boys do it about 90%
of the time. When I get to Rangers recreation is the last thing
on my mind. I spoke to the boys about this last night.
As I explain to them the Leaders Manual states you should get
only 15 minutes of recreation, but most Wednesday nights you get
more the 15 minutes. I went on to say:you guys have time to play
before shcool, one or two recesses (sp?), a hour for lunch and more
then 15 miuntes for your recreation here. Then you come to Rangers
and the first thing you ask is " Can we have recreation?"
I told them, this habit needs broke. The rule we put in place is this:
If two or more boys ask anyone of the three of us the classic question,
they will get only fifteen minutes of recreation. If they still ask, there
will
be no recreation for that night. If they still ask after that, they will
work on
next week and so one.
This might sound rough, but it gets old when you hear that question week in
and week out, even before doing the pledges. I'm not saying recreation is
bad.
I am saying it should not be the first question out of there mouths.

Later,

course others may take, but as for me, give me
liberty or give me death.
