I had our faithful RangerNet robot send it out to (1) track down a bouncing mail address where the address the mail bounced from was not subscribed directly to RangerNet (this worked great), and (2) to let people know the exact address they were subscribed at (believe it or not, some people don't know -- or act like they don't). There is no need to respond to the probe message.
