Ok here in England we take food very seriously.
I am not too familiar with grits, we don't get it much in the UK. usually
grit is something you find in the bottom of a budgie cage. We eat Porridge
or Oatcakes, To a traditional Scottish recipe.
Vegemite, deliver us o Lord!!, Nuff said.
Root Beer. I actually like the stuff. As a young teen come twenty someting
I worked for Mcdonalds in The UK as a supervisor, and was able to drink
copious amounts of free liquid germoline as the crew named it. We would get
customers coming in asking for that stuff that tasted like germoline.
Now sadly every time I go into Mcdonalds I find that root beer is no longer
sold. The fashion these days is for Coke (not Mcdonalds cola), Fanta or
7up. The closest thing I can find to it is Dr Pepper, which I absolutely
adore. Guess that is why I am so miss understood.
For the benefit of anyone outside the UK. Germoline is a foul smelling pink
antiseptic ointment that smells the same as hopital disinfectant.
Incidently kids in this country just love the taste of it. Germoline that
is, not root beer.
Ok to add to the culinary delights try this one. I call it the Hiker. A
sandwich made of Peanut Butter & Chocolate Spread. Very good for Protein,
Calcium, Complex Carbohydrate, and Sugars. gives initially quick but long
term sustained energy release, and it tastes good. Not like Vegemite, Grits
or Root Beer.
Stu in England.
