All:

We live in the state of Texas where prayer prior to football
games and other events is a major source of concern and
discussion at this time. Prayer is no longer allowed but an
inspiration message is given. The message can contain no
references to God, Jesus or church.

In our city, a number of churches came together to host a
pre-See You at the Pole rally. They met at a local shopping
center on Monday night and hosted a short praise and worship
time and a time of student led prayer. Many parents attended
with their children. As we rally dismissed, we were asked to
attend the See You at the Pole rally on Wednesday morning.
However, parents were not allowed on the school property.
The youth pastor asked for the parents to line the opposite
side of the street in an attempt to show support for those
students who were taking part in the rally. My children
attend a private school and we were in transit to our school
at the time of the Wednesday rally so we did not get to participate
at the local high school. A friend said that police guards were
at the rally and any parent who stepped on school property in
the vicinty of the "pole" would be arrested. I have attended a
few See You at the Pole rallies and it is very moving to listen to
the heartfelt and sincere prayers of our young people. They
really care about future of our nation.

Many schools in the San Antonio area where we live, forbid any
teachers on thier payrolls to attend or in anyway participate in the
rally.

I think that the "Wedgewood" shooting just shows that when Christians
make a bold and public stand, Satan is very upset and will try to counter-
act it with something big and evil of his own. Our youth today are facing
a very dangerous world and without our prayers for their protection, we
may one day face the tragedy, grief and horror that many parents have
experienced in the last few years as school violence and other random
acts of violence have escalated.

Well, I just wanted to share some thoughts on these matters.

God Bless You all,
