Just so everyone knows, there is apparently at least one mutant strain of
Melissa now making the rounds.
The email in question has a subject line entitled "pictures", the message
"What's up?", and an attachment.
If you open the attachment in Outlook Express, it will send itself to
people in your address book (thus making it seem as though it comes from a
trusted source) and will infect other files on your system. It also
apparently erases system files, which is something the original strain did
not do.
The virus only works if you open the attachment. Just opening the email it
is attached to will not infect your system.
