But did you guys know about the virus that is going around that you can
get without even having to download the file? There is a new one that has
bore through the MS Outlook program that when you are looking at the
different mail in your inbox, just by having it highlighted can trigger it.
You can get it and it would look perfectly legit from someone you know and
boom, you have this virus that just messes up everything that has to do with
Outlook.
This one has been on the news a lot lately. It is best to back up what
you need that is important and keep it near. Also you may want to find all of
the software that came with your computer so that you can restore it. I can
help with that and save you some bother if you don't know how to do that, but
if you have a Compaq Presario, I'm sorry I can't help you with that system as
it is slightly different from one that has it's BIOS built into the
motherboard.
If you find that virus, it is important to delete that message right
away and then go through the personal filing cabinet and delete it there to
because it can still get you from there too. I'm talking about completely
wiping out the hard drive and restoring it from scratch without viruses. All
of the drivers for sound, joysticks, and other hardware will need to get
completely re-added and it is a total system reboot.
I can only help with Windows 98 OS because I have no other info and they do
not run exactly the same as Windows 95 in this particular area.
Don't be scared of a computer virus unless you are the one who made the
thing, cause the Feds will be looking for ya. There is a w ay to get around
it if you absolutely have to.
