My name is Janet and I am Frapper's wife. I lurk around the net also and
enjoy it daily. About the Christmas trees. You can look at anything and
make a pagan ritual out of it. I am a master story teller, I love to tell
the Three Trees in my own style. While researching the tradition years ago,
I found some things you might find interesting. The pine tree always grows
it's "skirts" lower on one side than the other. (ergo, you spend time each
Christmas season trimming and "evening" it up). The balsam pine is made up
of branches covered with littler branches of three fingers. We tell children
this is to remind us of the Holy Trinity. The skirts give protection to
small animals. They can run from predators and hide in the lower side. The
larger animal can't fit in there. It is protection provided by God and it
reminds us of His protective wings hovering over us. The last thing is that
the pine tree is the only one that grows to a small point on top. This shows
us the way to Heaven. It's ever green color reminds us of eternal life. I
hope you can think of Christmas trees in a different light from now on. As
many of you say, "it's my 2 cent's worth" :o)
