Got this from another list I'm on. It's simple but VERY accurately portrays
what Christmas is REALLY about.

I'd like to share with you a miracle that I witnessed this week. As with
probably most of us, we receive a lot of desperate requests just prior to
Christmas. Three days before Christmas we had two families needing toys and
a request for money to pay a water bill for a connection that had been turned
off.

Two of our benevolent fund people were already out of town, and one had an
emergency hospitalization. They literally had the checkbook, so we were
scrambling for other sources. Prayer meeting was small-10 people-but we were
able to raise $150 there...still way short of our needs.

My Mom and I were out shopping. On our way to somewhere else, we passed an
old out-of-the-way toy store that we had not been to in a long time. Mom
wanted to stop. We looked around and Mom found a "perfect" gift for one of
her granddaughters.

I struck up a conversation with the shopkeeper who looked like a character
from a movie! He was a very old, white-haired man with a twinkle in his eye.
When I mentioned church he totally lit up. He told me that two weeks prior
a woman had come in looking for some toys for a needy family. He had picked
out some toys, but she never came back. He asked if I knew anyone who needed
toys.

The next day we sent someone to pick them up. There were so many they could
have filled up a refrigerator box! These were not cheap toys either. There
was one Madame Alexander doll with a $125 price tag!

Because we no longer needed the money for toys, we were able to use it to
meet the other needs, including the water bill. The folks who shared with
the family whose water was restored reported that two teenage girls tearfully
gave their hearts to the Lord.

My question: WHO NEEDS SANTA?

Merry Christmas to you all!
Nancy Keith
