Leviticus 19:28 "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on
yourselves.  I am the LORD.


Also, if you read Exodus 21:2-6, you will see where we get the practice of
ear piercing.  This was done to signify a person was a slave who willingly
stayed with his master.  When we pierce different body parts, which
"master" are we saying we are willingly staying with?
