Cdr-Jen wrote: I would like to respond to the post regarding the concern of women in Scouting. I have been on most all of the Scouting camps with my husband and son in Boy Scouts. In our district and troop, there has never been ANY hint of discrimination towards me or any of the other women leaders and adults. Many of the camps have facilities for women and men. Men and women are treated as adult leaders and are welcomed at any camp to assist. Most of the camping events are run by the boys leaders of the Senior Patrol Staff. Adult leaders are there to assist when asked, and those of us who are Merit Counselors assist boys in earning required merits. The boys have had women leaders since they were Cub Scouts, (Den Mothers), and are accustomed to having women at events, ceremonies and overnight campouts. I was even told last evening that there are women who are nominated into the Order of the Arrow, which is comparable to FCF. Rangers too, in the US, is progressing. There are several women who are now on the National Standing Committee for SA and Buckaroos. Remember that God appoints leaders. Let's not let our own pre-conceived ideas and prejudices stand in the way of what the Master Ranger has planned.
