Mark, forgive me for answering this to the entire RangerNet but you ask a
good question..
<<<
The way it is now we taylor our meetings around PW Derbies, Campouts, Pow
Wows, merits and advancements etc... Sure the SA and BR don't hit alot of
these campouts but Pioneers and up that have
been the real intent of Royal Rangers from the beginning and if one's
outpost is heathly they do attend these outings.
>>>
I suppose we will do it will always, try to figure out how to get everything
into only 1.5 hours per week.
>From the Presentation............
Discovery Rangers is to be Merit Driven - The presentation said:
"Activities such as - Camping, Outdoor activities and many other non-camping
activities such as - Convoy of Hope, Prayer Task Force, trades and skills in
many areas"
"Advancements will be merit award driven with camping and non-camping awards
to achieve an advancement trail."
"Weekly planning guides developed into a quarterly system consisting of a
twelve-week system (10 weeks meeting planners, one week for make up, and one
week for advancement council of achievement)"
One problem I see with this is that MOST 9-year olds are not able to
properly earn the current merits (IMHO). Taking the age down to 8 should
present further complications. This is an opinion not a criticism. We will
have to see what the merits are for that first couple of years first before
we criticize ;o)
See you this weekend at PWD.
