I think it goes further back than that, Abraham was to have a child and
Sarah laughed about this because of her age and she gave Abraham an Egyptian
servant (Hagar) to be a wife to have relations to have a child (Ishmael) by
her. Then Sarah became pregnant with a son named Isaac. If you read Genesis16
you will see this. Now if you read in Genesis 21:1-34 you will see that God
says that Ishmael will become a great nation (? Palestinians ?) and Isaac of
God's chosen decent the Israelites. It also says Isaac shall be Abraham's
only heir and that Isaac was to be the seed.
I hope this sheds some light on the subject.
