Subject: COMBINATION OF ROYAL RANGERS AND MISSIONETTES
I do not feel that Rangers and Missionettes should be combined. Each group
has their own program. I am grateful and proud of the new Missionettes
program.
Also, at the age of Stars, Friends, Girl's Only, boys change from being
"yucky" to "wow". I feel it would be a distraction for both Rangers and
Missionettes to be in the same class. Even Prims age girls sometimes talk
about their boyfriends. In our Missionettes, it is ok to talk about boys
before or after class. In all churches, there are girls that like certain
boys at church and vice versa. If they were in the same class, they would
be more interested in each other than they would be in the lesson. After
all, our programs are to teach the kids about Jesus, and to prepare them to
be an integral part of the body of Christ and society.
At our Church, the Ranger and Missionettes leaders work together. We had
one of our Ranger leaders teach our Stars class on First Aid and Camping in
the old Missionettes program. The leader brought his group of boys and
taught the lessons to both groups. When the Rangers have had a special
speaker, i.e., a weather person, a forest ranger, they have invited the
Missionettes and we really enjoyed participating. We have had a combined
trip to an ice hockey game. These interactions have worked great, but I do
not feel that being together every week would work. Besides, our Church
could not afford to purchase all new materials again!
Thank you for letting me input my feelings.
