I was looking through all of the emails today on the subject of girls in Rangers.
First of all for all of you guys who think that girls don't like to camp etc.... Let
me tell you that I have always loved camping, hiking, hunting and the outdoors. In
this household the only one who has bagged a deer is me and it was my first time out
hunting. As for not being tough enough their lots of tom-boys out there who are quite
tough and there are lots of boys who are big babies. It isn't a gender thing.
I agree that it would be cool if the Missionettes could do some of the fun things that
the Rangers do. My oldest daughter doesn't want to go to Missionettes anymore becuase
all they do is bible studying things. However, the problem is more the leader than the
program since they could do these things if they choose to.
I also agree that a sort of FCF for the Missionettes when they get older would be fun.
However, I'm not sure if we should have camping together or not.
I also have to agree that having the boys and girls together every week would cause a
great deal of distraction. I teach Sunday school for the the 5th and 6th graders and
the biggest problem I have with behavior is with them being clowns and trying to
impress one another. I'm glad not to have this distraction in my Missionette class.
More importantly, though is the fact that Missionettes is a part of the womens
ministry and was designed to help raise girls to be a part of God ministry. Yes our
mission is similar but guys you are different than us women. How would you like it if
I suggested that all of the Men's ministry areas were going to be taken over by women.
Truth is we are different. God designed us so and both Rangers and Missionettes give
us an excellent opportunity to help raise Godly men and women.
I do however, think that their could be some cooperation between the two groups and
some shared activities. I hope this helps you guys to have a womens point of view
Sincerely,
Ruth Zerby
