Here
yea Here Yea. Safety is a must.
Just from memory here, I don't have all my
books with me but in LTC Course 4 - Six S's of Coundil Fires - S # Six is
Safety. Which specifically states No Gunpowder, No Gasoline. Sorry to rain on
your Council Fire, Cannon Man. There are plenty of fun exiciting way to light
the fire w/o blowing something up. Brake Fluid and Cl are a plenty big enough
bang. Using Rocket igniters w/o the rocket engine works great assuming you
know you to build a fire that will light quickly. Battery and steel wool is
safe and sure fire. Flint and Steel and Bow and Drill are the skilled methods
that are the most impressive. (And then there is the flashlight and magnifying
glass;)
We thought once during a Space Theme event
that it would be cool to launch a rocket out of the council fire and light it
at the same time. Built it, left a big hole in the top for an escape route and
when the boys were up to a fever pitch we touched off the rocket. The Fire
lit. The rocket stuck and burned to the ground. $60 up in smoke. Praise God!
It's a wonder we didn't have it land in the middle of 300 boys. God protects
us sometimes veen when we don't follow the rules. Let's not push
it.
