Hi Ron,

We run a three lane system without the aid of a timer, computor or any
electronic device. We score using the following method (designed by
engineer and fellow Ranger, Lorel Clark). All cars are assigned a number
(on a sticker, attached to the car) upon check in. This number
corresponds to the numbering system below.

Use a piece of lined graph paper and run a column on the left starting
with 1 and running through the number of cars entered. If you are using
a three lane track then bunch the numbers into three's, four then
four's, two then two's, etc. Each car gets at least two runs. But, two
loss's and the car is eliminated. The winner of each heat gets a red
circle places around the their number and the losers of the heat get a
blue circle around them. Two blue circles and the car is out.

The first heat looks like this running a three lane track. The )
represents a loss. The second column represents the second heat. The
third column the third heat, etc.

1 1) 1)* 6)* 10 10
2) 6 6 10 5)*
3) 11)* 7) 14)*

4) 2)* 3)* 7)*
5 7 4)* 5
6) 12)* 10

7) 3 14
8) 8)* 5)
9 13)* 9)*

10 4
11) 9)
12) 14)

13) 5
14 10)
15) 15)*

The * represents a car with two losses, eliminating them from the race.
The winner is car # 10, with car # 5 in second and you can have a race
off between # 6, 7, & 14 for third.

I know this is clear as mud and if you have further questions please
contact me.
