MPJ's post is a good Ranger etiquette to follow in recruiting parental involvement. Where I work faculty often employ the "guest speaker" options for their classes. This can work in Rangers too. If you cannot get a parent to work with your Rangers weekly, asking them to come as a "guest Speaker". Let them know that they are "special" that they will not be imposed upon but you think they have a specialty you would like them to share with the group.

What HAS NOT worked, (from past experience) :
putting a note in the church bulletin or making an announcement from the pulpit, or putting a notice on the church bulletin board. Surveys were not very successful either.

What HAS worked: asking an adult or leader in person or over the phone directly:
"We are talking about hobbies, (or careers) this month and we were wondering what hobby or work specialty would YOU like to share with our Rangers". "let's schedule a time YOU can speak". Almost everyone has a hobby or a knowledge about something they can share.

With this more direct approach, you will have more success for an example : We had some parents who trained dogs for a hobby and we scheduled them to come and demonstrate with their dogs some basic training commands. Once we had a MOM who was a race-car driver come with her car in the parking lot and give a talk about race-cars.
