> What's your take on what you heard?
Well i attended a workshop of 20 men in the class and 2 National Staff
there in attendance one being the National Commander.
When questions were asked I had my question.
I first told them I was all for the circuliam that would keep a group of
Rangers working towards one advancement or merit at a time. When a new
guy comes into the group he stays with the group and if he wants to
pickup what was done in the past that is fine he can do that on his own.
However the group learns and stays together. The sample meeting plan was
excellent. It was very much like the Straight Arrow manual with
predetermined meeting outlines and all you need to get it done. This
will take meeting preparation and drop it down to under a hour. This was
all great and I complimented the National Staff for this good work.
I then said I still don't under stand how you can put two houses on one
foundation. Rangers that Camp and Rangers that don't camp. The Rangers
that camp will attend all National, Regional, District, Divisional,
Sectional, Area and Outpost Campouts and Over night Events. The Rangers
that don't camp they can do Pinewood Derbies and day outings but will be
very limited in what they will be allowed to do.
I was told in the group that 2 weekends ago we (He and I and 50 some
Rangers) attended a campout and had a great time. When the boys got back
to their outposts they reported and told of all they had done. The rest
of the boys that didn't go would be excited and on fire ready to go for
the next campout.
That was my answer.
Guys my two cents: Take it for what it is worth. The six imperatives
from Pastors and Headquarters to the National Office was to bring in to
focus ... one was to do Rangers without being required to camp. I think
they are addressing a imperative in the only way they know how. Put it
on a slideshow and get onto the next point. Royal Rangers Camp.
Now if they take camping, tool craft, fire craft, camp craft, first aid,
rope craft out of the curiculam then we will have Missioneers.
Again I will say this is my opinion and only time will really tell where
we are heading to.
The National Commander did say he thought it was Possible to Reach Every
Boy for Christ. He may very well be able to do that. They say with
todays technology it is possible for one person to beable to communicate
with the entire planet. I would agree with that statement. However
getting everyone together to listen at one time might not be possible.
Getting Royal Rangers to appeal to everyone and be the all and all to
everyone may be just the same.
I enjoyed the Commanders Conference! We had about 7 National Staff
there. It was Wonderful!
