OK I know I am a little late on coming into this Elain thing. Here is how I
see it. It is not a "us" versus "the godless communists." It is a simple
problem of whether the United States wants to follow its own laws. It seems
that with Janet Reno, that we don't. She opened her mouth and said a lot of
things she shouldn't have. Simple as that.
The US has an agreement with Cuba. It says that any people rescued form
rafts in US waters by US agents will be detained in US facilities until such
time as they can be released to Cuba, or into America. This comes through
either Political Amnesty or through the fall of the communist government in
Cuba. If a Cuban makes it to American soil they will -Not- be sent back. If
Castro really wants the boy we should send him back with the rest of the
refugees that we are holding. That results in a few thousand angry Cubans.

Actually the apostle Paul said that we are supposed to be supportive our
leaders. They have been appointed by God to lead us. Whether they do the
riht thing is a different question. And the question of where should our
answers come from is not as simple as 1) The Bible, or 2) Our Emotions. We
live in a society directed by laws, that have nothing to do with the Bible
(speed limits, air polution laws....) or emotions. Laws, acts, presidential
orders, amendments, consulatory rules, international treaties, and
international orginizations all affect how we do our jobs, and how our
country is run.

Unfortunatly that isn't completly true. The court didn't take into
effect any international rulings. Plus they were told what to do by the
Attorney General who has less ability to make decisions based on law then the
president. This was never a local court decision to begin with. It shold
have been in Federal Courts the second it came out due to the international
law aspect, which is always determined in Federal Court. In addition to
that, the Supreme Court is the highest court in the land. With a challenge
pending in that court, or any below it, it would be impossible to get the
child from teh US without his legal representaion, and guardians, signing the
rights of his protection away.

The greater communist world included, Cuba, CCCP, and Mainland China, and
North vietnam at that time. Russia being the only one with nuclear
cabability. Missiles in Cuba were armed, and aimed at the American fleet,
during the standoff, with a compliment of three submarine escort of the
missile baring frieghter. We surrounded Cuba in a dead man's struggle
knowing we could have easily lost half our fleet at that time just to stop
those few missiles.
The advisors sent to Vietnam were training soldiers for jungle warfare.
They were sent not as a battle to control, or contain, communism, but as a
request of the French government. The problem did not come until Johnson
decided to include the numbers of troops he had. it was not a battle against
China, but for continued western superiority around the world. No offense
but most people that talk from the pulpit know little or anything about
politics other then what the propaganda they are fed. Communism was never
designed to be godless, and the people weren't. Large percentages of the
population of the CCCP were still religious even during the Stalinistic
purges and other hard times. The fact that the government was a deeply
unreligious structure had nothing do with the people, much like our
unreligious government is not a true representation of the government.
