I received this from our District Commander here in Illinois yesterday.
Most of you have probably heard this news already but I thought I should
pass it on. It concerns Rev. David Boyd who recently became the Director of
the Children's Ministry Agency for the Assemblies of God and who has been
traveling with our National Commander.
This is a very serious situation that needs our prayers.
Please pass it on as you see fit.

The LCH Team learned this morning at 3:45 a.m. that Rev. David
Boyd, who was recently appointed director for the new Children's Ministry
Agency for the Assemblies of God was rushed to emergency after falling from
a later Saturday evening. We knew everyone would want a first hand report
of David's condition, so we have enclosed an update from his wife Marry
which is only about 30 minutes old. Please pray with us.

The day started out with David and I going to Silver Dollar City
(Saturday), We got home around 7:00 PM and started to get our things out
for a service we were doing tomorrow. David went into the garage to pull
some things out of our storage area in the loft that he built. Somehow in
getting things down, the ladder slipped out from under him and he fell back
on to the concrete floor from appox. 15-20 feet. He fell landing on his back
and back of his head.
I heard a noise and then a call for help. I ran to the garage and found
David all contorted and lying in a pool of blood and the blood continuing to
ooze out from under him. I couldn't tell where exactly the blood was coming
from. He was conscience but barely. I called 911.
To make a long story short, he lost conscienceness in the ambulance on the
way to the hospital. The gave him a CAT scan and lots of X-rays because
they didn't know if he had a broken back, neck, skull, etc.

The miracle is that there was no skull fracture of any kind!!! The
doctors are in shock. David has a hole in the scalp the size of a golf ball
that required many, many stitches. The doctors said that the scalp
literally burst from the impact. They said from the height of the fall and
the force of impact that really he is lucky to be alive.
I know many of you were praying and I'm just want to say thank you and to
keep on praying. He's not out of the woods yet. It appears that he took
the force of the impact on his left elbow. He has a compound fracture and
has completely shattered the elbow joint. The orthopedic surgeon says you
never see anything like this unles it was MAJOR force and impact. But he
said better to be trying to repair an elbow than a skull. The elbow helped
to break the fall from the skull. The fracture torn through the arm cutting
a HUGH gash and lots of blood was lost. They did surgery tonight to pull
out all the shattered bone fragments and to clean out the debris. They will
reopen everything in three days and see how it is doing and if they got all
the fragments out and there is no infection. If so, the they will screw in
a plate to cover over the area that has been completely shattered. The
prognosis is little to no mobility of the elbow joint because everything has
been shattered, there is nothing left for the surgeons to repair or mend.
BUT we serve an awesome God! God protected David and He's not through with
him yet! PLEASE PRAY that the elbow will
completely heal, that God will guide this team of doctors, and that
mobility will come back into this arm! As Children's Pastors, you know
how much arms are used for puppets, juggling, magic, etc. Doctors also said
he will have to always "baby" it with no heavy lifting or moving because it
will only be small screws holding that whole thing together.
David will be in the hospital for 1-2 weeks, then lots of therapy, etc.
Please pray for his pain and recovery. Doctors also say he will have
major headaches for a while too.
I love you all. Thank you so much for your prayers. David is in Cox
South Hospital. Please don't call him for a day or two because he really
needs to rest his head and he can't move much.
