WE SERVE AN AWESOME GOD!!!!!!
David Boyd experienced a miracle of God today. This will be something you
can all tell your kids. It's midnight and I'm home after a long, but
glorious day. I will try to be brief so as not to bore all of you and try
to explain all of this on paper without any of you being able to see all
the drawings. You all know the prognosis the doctor game me on Saturday
and the x-rays he showed me. In essence, the elbow is like a U joint
cupping around the bone that goes up the arm. David broke this U joint in
two places which caused the bone area inbetween to shatter completely. On
Saturday, the doctor cleaned out all those fragments and left an empty
space. So the elbow joint was now gone, that's why he would not have the
mobility. A metal plate was to be the bridge over the missing joint. The
doctor said at the time that he had nothing left to work with. He also
said David was not a candidate for an artificial elbow because there was
nothing there to anchor it to. This was a serious break.
When the doctor went in today, the jagged edges of the two broken ends of
the bone miracleously fit together like a puzzle piece!!!!!!!! They fit
perfectly!!!!! Do you get this?! The bone inbetween these two, shattered
into pieces and now the two ends fit together!!!! God did a miracle! On
top of that, when they fit together, the connecting place was an angle
which will make the healing faster. There was only a small area which left
a little hole but the doctor said it was in an insignificant area and the
bone will grow back. On top of all this, all the cartiledge was intact,
not damaged in any way, it was in all the right places and will funtion
normally. PTL!!!!!
As a result of all this, his elbow joint is now there in complete working
order. Doctor says he has complete mobility of his arm and will suffer no
long term effects!!!!!!!!!!PTL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mobility will take some time
and therapy because of all the trauma.
A metal plate was put in inorder to act as a vice to press the two bones
together as they heal. The plate will only stay in for a year to make sure
it gets a good healing. He will be in a cast for only 10 days and then a
brace. The big thing is to get the joint moving as soon as possible, so
therapy starts in 10 days. Thereapy will go on for several months but will
not be as bad as originally said.
All I could do was cry when I was told. I said to the doctor, "So you are
telling me a miracle took place!". He just rolled his eyes and smiled and
would not acknowlege that. All he said was the prognosis he gave me on
Saturday was based on how everything looked on Saturday. Today, things
were different and he did what he had to do today!
Don't get me wrong.....he's a WONDERFUL doctor and I found out one of the
best orthopedic surgeons in Springfield. It was also in God's plan that he
was on the all night rotation Saturday so David could be in his care. He's
very personably. Very caring......just won't give God the glory for this
miracle. He's trying to rationalize all this.
I'm just in awe of God's grace and power. I don't know why God heals some
and not others, I just know that there was a purpose in all this and that
none of this would've happened had not all of you been praying. I can't
describe the peace I've had. People keep asking me, are you OK, how are
you doing. And really, I've been great and at such peace. It's hard to
describe in words. This whole things surgical process has been hard to
describe in words without pictures, but I hope you can understand the
drift of it.
Now there is even a possiblity that David will be home on Thursday! It
will be a while before he can type, so don't expect answers to e-mails
soon. I don't know how to express to all of you thanks for praying for him
and literally having people all over the world praying. We have been so
touched by your kindness and love. It's great to be a part of the family
of God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
