All this talk of short wave radios brought back some very fond memories. I
was a HAM radio operator once - way back in the 70's.

One of the things that ham operator's did was called "county hunters". The
object was to talk to at least one person (on the radio) from every
county(parish for Louisiana people) in the United States.

I had a portable radio mounted in my car - if you can call 150 pounds
portable. I would park my car at a parish line and announce the 2 or 3
parishes that I was bordering on. In turn, many people would call back with
their location. Each contact was listed by county in a logbook. If you
managed to fill your logbook with every county, you had talked to over 2000
people! Very time consuming and lots of fun.

I am attempting something a little less ambitious. I am trying to get at
least one Ranger web page link from every state in the United States. I
have a page on my new site - http://www.crosswinds.net/~rrcookie/uslinks.htm
where I will be putting all these links.

As I get links from other countries, I will be posting them on a seperate
page.

If you have a website for your outpost or district, please send me the URL
and name of the page. Be sure to give me your location so I can put it
under the right state.
