The Legend of Spirit Rider
By, Noel"Spirit Rider"Bell
Many moons ago when the Earth was still young.
A young Indian brave stood atop a high Mountian. He could see for miles. He saw the bald Eagle as it glided in the air. He saw a mother bear and her cubs eating Salmon on the river bank. He saw the lush grasslands of the plains and the Grate river as it cut and carved the land. He often wondered who the great God was that made these things. He had been warned not to look for the great god, as many wariors had lost there lives on such a quest. Despite the warnings he sat off on the journey, He walked and walked. Hours turned into days and days into weeks. On the 25th day of his journey he came upon a wounded man and two injured horses. The man looked a solider but he could not tell. Walking slowly he approached the man. "HELP ME!!" the man said. Using his skills of the forest the young brave soon revied the man. The brave spent many days with the man. He stayed with him untill he was strong enough he could return to the fort. The man thanked the young brave and gave him a horse. Haveing a horse the journey seemed to go quicker. About a week later the young brave came to the great river. The river was at flood stage and the current was swift. No way was the he crossing the river at that point. But something caught his eye. In the middle of the river was a baby couger. Not far behind was its mother both trapped by the strong current. " Great God hep me!" prayed the young brave. Not knowing what he was doing he took his horse a began to swim toward the cougers. When the brave approached the strongest part of river something happened. It turned all black. Pitch black, black as night. Was he dead? Had he died like all the others? Could it be a dream? No it was no dream for he was still wet. As these things are going around in his head a man wearing white clothes stands before him. " come with me." the man says the man leads the brave down a long hall. At the end of the hall is a great oak door. The door swings opened by itself. Seated on a thron is man in white robe. " I am the one you seek." the man says " I am the God of your father and your father fathers. You are not dead but very much alive. I have wathced you show kindness, and do good deeds in your quest. You have a true and rightfull heart. The warriors before you were killed becasue there heart was not right. They looked for power to please me, but you look at the heart. When you return to your people you shall be given the name Spirit Rider, for you have seen God and lived to tell about it. Now go, return to your people and report what you have seen." Upon this the young brave awakes and finds himself close to his own village. He walks into the village and tell the chief and elders all that happened on his quest. Much to his suprise the solider he helped is also there, makeing peace with the tribe. That eveing a great feast is given in honor of the brave and he is given the name Spirit Rider. As night falls Spirit Rider once looks out acrossed the grassland and sees the many animals in it. All is well. All is well. The End
