Yes, it would work if ALL guns were destroyed. However, in these United
States, the Second Amendment was put in as No. 2 as a check on a tyrannical
government. If the citizenry in 1775 did have their own firearms, there
would have been no USA. After taking power in Russia, Lenin asked the Cheka
(the predecessor of the KGB) to use a large electromagnet and go
door-to-door to see if the people had hidden caches of weapons. Now why
would he not want the people to be armed?
As a local talk show host says here in Pittsburgh, "the Second Amendment is
the reset button on the Constitution."
The issue is not the gun, but the person. Without a moral compass, no
amount of laws or no amount of police/judges/courts will be sufficient to
keep the peace.
Just a thought.
