I know this conversation is not mine, but I wanted to add a little piece of
information for your research you might like. There is an OLD series of
books called Foxfire books you may want to look into. It used to be you
could only get hold of them through the library and it was reference and you
couldn't check them out, but now you can order them from the Bookstop or
other local book stores. Book number 2 is the one we have. Each book is
just common everyday things for living back in the 1800's. How to build a
smoke house, tan a hide, dressa hog, make candles, build a cabin, go to
church, etc. Just like Little House on the Prairie, only just plain folks'
every day needs. Each book covers a lot of separate things, doing it the
natural way. I think there are about 8 books. Wayne (Frapper) really has
enjoyed the one he has. Janet
