A salute, a hug, and a holy kiss to all those who went, from 1775-1990,
and came back.
A tear and a prayer for all those who didn't come back like Mitch and my
friend Joe Schnell. And also for those like my friend Bob who returned in
body only and died from "wounds" 20 years later.

There is a bond that is only shared by those who have "seen the elephant."
I consider myself both lucky and unlucky to not share that.
To Duane and all those on the 'net, I pray that God help us as commanders,
should (Lord forbid) the time come for "our boys" to go in harm's way to a
foreign land to lay down their lives for people they've never met, may we as
commanders have done our job - may those boys truly be "ready."
