*I lost a Sr.Guide once when we "asked" a super achiever who had transferedIT is true he is to be a role model. How ever it is going to depend on alot of what happened at school. If it was something like our Eagle Scout who was just suspend. Is it worth destroying the boy and turning him away from Rangers.
in what he needed to do to advance further.. It seemed to us that he was wearing
merits that we had not awarded... We wanted to see his handbook.
"Oh I lost my handbook"
"Oh.. I earned them at the last Outpost"
*I asked him to provide a letter from his former Commander as a confirmation
of his claimed awards, and talked it over with his Mom... the next
week,
"Mom came back" without Sr.Guide and had a beret full of merits- pins
and stripes
there was a FCF pin and more. *Bummer!
*Perhaps he had not "earned" but had *Taken the awards from the previous
Ranger storeroom and was "staying ahead of the jones" by awarding himself
out of his own "stock"!!
*Recently- I "preached" Boy Leadership to my Challengers... I "challenged"
them to come prepared and lead the meeting, I'd buy the gas and drive
them to the camp out ect. and had them elect a Patrol guide and Sr.Guide...
2 weeks went by and *No Sr.Guide!
*I told the Patrol guide that "this don't cut it for leadership.." He
said "Right Cdr.
Duane.. I agree" *then 2 weeks went by and no Patrol guide! or Sr.Guide!
I mentioned the "situation" to the Sr.Commander and decided to show
High
Adventure Videos untill the "dust" settled... *He then said.. *Oh by
the way..
I resigned last night, and this is my last meeting<G>
I was afraid to tell YOU GUYS THAT- *Because it might start a
MASS EXODOS! (Just kidd'n)
and just to bring you up to date- The Outpost just folded!
-=A=- gonna have to attend "Charm school" <G>
I would rather try and rebuild him as much as possible. At the time that a boy or girl is suspended he is at a low point and feels like the world is against him or her. To have the church turn it's back on them would be shame on us. He or she needs to know that even though I failed in school there are people that still love and care for me. I would talk with the child and the parents at the same time and let them know that we would all work together to help each other to be successful and be a character that a Christian is suppose to have of compassion and love.William A. True enough, but isn't the Senior Guide a role
model?Later,
