Royal Rangers is the same in Germany and Poland as it is in the US.
When Royal Rangers in Germany was founded they were searching for a
translation but the ones they found didn't really match. There is no
good translation for Royal Rangers into german. You could only describe
the meaning of the name but not in two words.
Probably it's the same in Polish, as I know they are called Royal Rangers
over there, too. The only two translations I know of are Exploradores del
Rey
in Spain and Latin America and Czarskije Ochotniki in Russia (which I
think is the same problem as in German: Czarskije Ochotniki means Royal
Hunters
(Boris, correct me if I'm wrong)).
The problem is that there is no match for the word rangers in our language.
And
especially as there are different meanings of the word ranger(s) in American
English (not so much in British English).
Does the word Ranger in Royal Ranger mean somebody like a park ranger? Or
does it
only talk of scouts? Or does it even talk of elite troops like for example
in an army?
If you were talking of a park ranger the German translation should have been
"Natursch�tzer" (and they were really thinking of calling Royal Rangers
"K�nigliche Natursch�tzer". Horrible.). A scout should be "Pfadfinder" in
German (the Spanish chose
this meaning and called themselves "exploradores").
So you see IMHO it's very good the just let us be called Royal Rangers here
in Germany, too.
