How timely!
I've talked with Ranger leaders who do not have pleasant words for
Scouters, and I believe it is because we have withheld fellowship from
our close brothers... I was asked to share about Rangers with my
Scout friends and as I described the 'reasoning, it sounded somewhat
like what they hear from the LDS church<G>
(*Oh no! I thought.. Rangers has solid reasons to abstain from fellowship
with scouters... we aren't like Mormons!) *To my absolute surprise...
Two Scout Dad's were AG and the rest to a man came from Community
churches that surround our former Ranger Outpost!
It's true that some honest differences exist between the two *programs..
but in a very real way those positions could be bridged by open conversation
and negotiation, to allow Royal Rangers to share in the excellent facilities
and opportunities in Scouting.
Rangers could learn some valueable tips from 90 years of scouting...
*Don't make me choose between them, or judge the better..
*I just want to do both... with full freedom.
