It's exciting times in Wigan. When my sister
suffered her brain haemorrage and went blind she was visited by a man my wife
knows. This man has gone blind through adult onset diabetes. He has done
tremedous work on behalf of the blind and is quite a formidable character. He
offered comfort and encouragement to my sister and, of course, was able to
empathise with her condition and was able to reassure her that there was life
after blindness. On top of his diabetes and blindness he has also been diagnosed
as having cancer of the bladder and has had a number of visits to hospital. The
prognosis was that the doctors would have to remove his bladder piece by piece.
My sister went to visit him in hospital today. The doctors are greatly
surprised. The cancer has not spread and he needs no more surgery. Also, he is
listening to "religious" music and asking that people pray for him (my sister
had already told him that people were). Please pray that he takes that last step
into salvation and that God in His grace and mercy restores his health and
sight. If this man worked as hard for the gospel as he has done for those who
are blind and disabled we would have a modern day Paul.
