I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Jay/Duane.
Caution and prevention are essential.
He did not say or imply that Ranger leaders are all predators.
But just because you have wisdom and use personal caution does not mean that
EVERY leader does the same.

Simply buying a boy a lunch and sharing time with him is an excellent thing
to do, but you must use caution. As has been said, invite two boys or ask
the one to bring a friend. Nowhere has anyone said to not lead the boy
to Christ. If the Spirit really wants it to happen, there will be plenty of
other opportunities.

I am in a district where, in the past, a Sr Commander was arrested, charged,
and convicted of molestation. Everybody trusted him and believed in him.
Absolutely nobody thought anything of him counseling alone with a boy.
But there are now several families (and boys) who seriously bad-mouth
Royal Rangers to everyone because of their experience. And that
Outpost/Church has never, ever recovered from the incident.

Always use caution and 2-Deep. There are people and groups out there who
would dearly love to be able accuse you of wrong doing when you have done
nothing wrong. Don't even give them a chance by placing yourself in a
situation that gives "any appearance of evil", for the Bible even warns us
to be aware of that...
