Yes.

1.  Cook over coals, not flames - unless you are boiling beans.
    boil beans over a flame if you wish in a cast iron bean pot.

2.  For pies, cookies, muffins, biscuits, keep the pan off the floor
    of the dutch oven so the bottoms don't burn.  I use an upside-down
    pie-plate.

3.  Never set the top on the ground.  This gets dirt & such on the inside
    and then you have to clean it off before you put it back on.

4.  Practice. 

5.  Anything you can cook at home, you can cook in a dutch oven

6.  The 12 inchers are the most common.  Get a deep dish as well
    if you plan to do this a lot.

7.  I think Michigan had a great Ducth Oven cookbook for $10.

8.  Ovens & cookbooks available on eBay.
