[RR] Pop-up ads

Pop-ups….   Are you guys talking about the glitzy color graphic advertisements that might include sound that pop-up when you are on a web page, or are you talking about the text messages that pop-up even if you close down internet explorer (as long as you’re still connected)?   If the former, the applications you’ve been mentioning should solve the problem.  If the problem is the latter, here’s how to end them once and for all….   (I use windows xp.  Instructions may vary for other operating systems) 1. Go to Control Panel 2.  Double-click “administrative tools” 3.  Double-click the “Services” shortcut 4.  Scroll down the provided list of aps till you find “Messenger”.  (you may have to widen the window to see all the colums) 5. Right-click Messenger and then click “Properties” 6.  Under the “General” tab, down about the center of the window, you’ll find “Startup type:”.  Open the box to the right of it and select “disabled”. 7. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the window and restart your computer.   That should be the end of it.   -OH Ranger Dave
