I think we had an Explorer patch or two but sent them all to Puerto Rico when we switched to the new system. Sorry.
As for the bandage, I seem to remember the training kits we got from the Red Cross had right-triangle gauze bandages that were at least 3' on the short sides. Besides that triangle bandage there was an elastic ace bandage, a gauze compress, the strips you mentioned, and a couple of pieces of corrugated cardboard fan-folded down to about 3" x 18" x 1" thick to be used for splints. The whole works was stuffed in to individual zip-lock bags a bit bigger than a sandwich bag. I'm going to get re-certified shortly and we'll be using the Heart Association program instead of the Red Cross. They cover the same material in less time because the Red Cross has one course for First Aid and another for CPR. The two courses contain a significant amount of the same material and they teach it twice. The Heart Association teaches it all as one integrated course and saves several hours.
