Here is a thought, it may be a little old fashioned and definitely not of the "computer" age but see if the moms would "hand write" them? Usually the ladies have better hand writing than us guys do, and it helps to get them involved with this race and their boys. This would be my best pick if I ran into this problem.

Usually a lot of the "print programs" that ran on Windows 98 and ME don't perform well on XP. The actual file with the your actual data on it will more than likely be fine but the XP operating system has to be able to support it. Office 97 works plenty fine on the Windows XP O/S, however, I strongly recommend getting the Office XP suite and downloading all of the updates for both the operating system and the Office XP suite. Most of the time on the end of the box in which your program came in, it will indicate whether or not the program is compatible with Windows XP. Windows XP is a very functional operating system in that it has the capacity to support many file programs that were written for FAT 32 file systems like Windows 98 and ME but , it is also able to support the NTFS file system that is common with many of the other operating systems such as Windows 2000, Windows NT. Those operating systems can't support a file from a Windows 98 or ME platform. XP can.
(just wait until Windows Longhorn comes out) For Windows XP, I strongly recommend downloading ALL the service packs, both 1 & 2, using an adequate firewall and anti-virus from Norton or McAfee, these will work in tandem with service pack 2.
I also recommend downloading Adobe Acrobat 6.0. This program will stand alone and not draw any resources from previous builds. Then un-install the previous versions so which ever programs that had their sights lined up on a previous build of Adobe Acrobat would work with 6.0

Any and everything I have learned about computers I attribute it to my involvement in the Royal Rangers. If I didn't start using one in 1997, for the Capital Section, I probably would never have got into them. Anything I can offer to help out a fellow Ranger who would have a computer difficulty, I gladly offer it .

Subject: [RR] Derby Label HELP

I am trying to set up the format for our Derby Labels, but have ran out of options. I tried my new print shop program, but it will not number the labels consecutively. My old one does not work well with XP and a label Wizard program I have also does not run well on XP.

I also tried MS Word, but no luck with it in the format we need.

ANYONE HAVE ANY ANSWERS??

Jim Hufferd
