Yes, Her Most Britannic Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is still the Queen of Australia, though her representative in Australia is the Governor General, Michael Jeffery. Michael Howard is the Prime Minister of Australia and has no royal blood in him (that he, or we know of, that is). What our friend down in Oz is referring to is the fact that there was a recent referendum over whether to break formal ties with London and become truly independent like Canada (Canada became a federal republic with the Constitution of 1982, though they do still have a Governor General, Adrienne Clarkson, but her role is merely formal, and has no power over the governing of the nation) but was defeated mainly through the strong showing of royalist females at the polls. Yeppers, it's all the Shielas' Fault for having good ole' Queen Bess still in charge. Hope that helps you out in your knowledge of the convoluted post-Empire government.

Is she not titled Queen of England and Canada and the commonwealth ? Forgive my unqualified knowledge of the /former) british empire. And you-Austrillia are commonwealth, are you not ? That means everybody has a share in the wealth of the british empire or what is left of it.
If she is not your queen than John Howard is your king or do I see that wrong ?
So you are a rebel just as the cowboys from western Canada.
