I haven't gotten it working using Eclipse embedded Tomcat either. The
main problem I see is that the rave-shindig project is a Maven war
overlay. When Eclipse WTP deploys this web application it is only
aware of the web application sources, not of any additional overlays
that your POM may specify. So the problem you are having with the 404s
is not that they are resolved absolutely or relatively, it's that the
rave-shindig application can't be properly started. Anyway I don't see
how this scenario with the Eclipse embedded Tomcat is going to work.
The only way I see ATM for a faster development cycle is to use
something like JRebel.
