What value should be returned with the (CVAL('PRN_status')) function?

Is this only for the current default printer? What if it's a network printer?

What I need is to be able to check the status of a selected printer to make sure
it's available before I print a report to it.

I tried this:

set var VPRN_STATUS = (CVAL('PRN_status'))

R>show var vprn%
Variable           = Value                                   Type
------------------   ------------------------------          -------
VPRN_STATUS        = -0-                                      TEXT

Other PRN_????? Options return various values.

Thank you for any assistance.

Mike,

Here are my findings ....

Using the last public update of R:BASE eXtreme 9.5 (64), soon to be written in
the history of R:BASE, the values of (CVAL('PRN_STATUS')) is returned as NULL.

However, using the latest version of R:BASE X Enterprise, Build: 10.0.1.20706,
the correct value for my default CURRENTPRINTER of R:BASE session is returned
as "Ready".

Hope that helps!

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak
