Warranty stories fall into four categories:

1. Never had one, never needed one;

2. Had one, didn't need it;

3. Had one, sure glad I did;

3. Didn't have one, sure wish I did.

Applies to trucks and RVs, too.

Whew, glad to hear the positive reports of 10. I've never done a warranty before, but maybe I will this time.

Karen:

Running Windows 10 on both desktop and laptop - zero repeat zero - issues.

With Dan: Go new with warranty. 8gb RAM. USB ports clear of mouse-hand area.

As for open boxes or new ones I always get a 3 year warranty. It is well worth it.

Also, one other question. I see alot of windows 8 Toshibas on EBay and they are "new - open box". I don't want to go thru all this software trouble just to get a "used" laptop, so are these usually okay to purchase?

Admin: feel free to delete if this is not appropriate.

My laptop (my only computer) just died, rats. It was a 2012 Toshiba Satellite with windows 8. Boy I am scared to get windows 10. I always bought at Best Buy, but they no longer carry Toshiba, and until now Toshibas have been so reliable for me. They do carry Dell, Lenova, Acer.

So my question is, knowing that RBase is my primary concern, am I okay buying windows 10? And comment on brands?
