You could try typing the file out at the R:>

Not sure how wide the record is but you could try

R:>SET WIDTH 5000

R:>SET LINES = 300

R:>TYPE your filename

When it stops answer cancel or press ESC.

Now copy the output screen and paste and save it to file and name it whatever
you want.

Hope that helps.

Buddy

Not using any code, I am trying to use the File Gateway import wizard. I did
try using the Gateway command at the R prompt that didn’t work either.

No I have double and tripled checked to make sure it wasn’t opened. I can
import this data into Excel but because it’s a very large file with over 3
million rows of data it will not fit on one spreadsheet other wise I would
import it into a spreadsheet then use that file to import into an RBase table.

Is the file open when you try to load? It must be closed.

Subject: [RBASE-L] - File Gateway Not Reading Source File

Hello All,

I am trying to import data from a tab-delimited format txt file. I have tried
using the File Gateway utility and the command [Gateway] at the R: prompt.
When using the utility, it will not read the file, when it comes to the step to
match source column with target column the source is empty. When using the R:
prompt I get this error: “An error was encountered during execution. Make sure
the source exists and is not locked.”

I have checked the file with excel and note it’s not locked or corrupt. Not
sure what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Gary Randall
