Hi Dawn,

Welcome back to R:BASE World! It is so good to see you back.

Yes, can you believe that R:BASE Technologies will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary next year?

All those pundits thought that R:BASE Technologies would not survive more than a year. Where are those folks today? If they only knew the meaning of commitment, hard work, perseverance, and no nonsense.

With today's R:BASE, not only have we provided everything to our loyal and dedicated customers to compete and match the level of performance and productivity, but we have kept their mission critical corporate and government applications running to live up to their highest expectations. Not to mention, providing means and revenues for all those full-time employees, R:BASE consultants, including the so-called R:BASE consultants.

Now to your R:Compiler XE questions ...

01. I recommend to leave all forms, reports, and labels "as is" within the database. This is also important for ongoing tweaks, additions, etc., to forms, reports, and labels

In all my compiled applications, I however, always place my External Form Files (.RFFs), Application Switchboards, under "Additional Resources".

02. You can find the Version using the (CVAL('VERSION BUILD')) function

03. You can find the Build using the (CVAL('BUILD')) function

04. To keep track of your R:Compiler XE projects, you have the option to customize your own Version information, and if you wish you can also append the R:Compiler Build number in Production Version.
See attached screen shot for details.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have further questions.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak

After an extended leave, I'm back having fun with RBase, even if only part time!
It's nice to see all the familiar names in the group :-)

I don't have a ton of history using the compiler and have a couple questions.

How much of an improvement (in speed) could one expect by including the forms in the
compiled application vs just keeping them in the db?

I thought I remembered seeing something about detecting the version of the compiled application - but can't find it. I'm wanting to check the version of the exe against the current approved version and force an update if the user is using an out of date exe. I have some old scripts that looked at file information that I might dig out, but I
thought someone had posted something on this recently.....
