I just did a quick test, and the file sizes are updated when disconnecting the database, not while it is open.
My test: 1. Updated myself in table Contact to be “Not specified”. This creates a record in ContactHistory with the “before” data using a trigger. File sizes and dates were unchanged 2. Updated myself back to “Married”. File sizes unchanged. 3. Disconnected. File sizes were updated. My conclusion: The files are cached until the database is disconnected.
