Thanks, Albert. I always exit before copying the files (which I assume auto
disconnects the database). But I did try connecting, make a couple changes,
then specifically disconnecting before exiting. Still no change. I hope
that’s what you meant.

Subject: Re: [RBASE-L] - One last question, if possible

I just did a quick test, and the file sizes are updated when disconnecting the
database, not while it is open.

My test:

1. Updated myself in table Contact to be “Not specified”. This creates a record
in ContactHistory with the “before” data using a trigger. File sizes and dates
were unchanged

2. Updated myself back to “Married”. File sizes unchanged.

3. Disconnected. File sizes were updated.

My conclusion: The files are cached until the database is disconnected.

I hope it’s ok if I ask one more question that has been driving me crazy (as an
end user, also the buyer of R:Base). I was so happy to have my only other main
R:Base problem fixed by Razzak so quickly and easily.

When I last upgraded to R:Base Extreme 9.5(32), the file Attributes suddenly
stopped changing, i.e., the date modified never changes, and RB1 through RB4
never changes size (no matter how many rows I add or changes I make).

Because I have auto back-up drive that backs up changes only, it will not
back-up my R:Base data files unless I do it manually. I found a program that
will automatically update the date changes to current (if I mark and select
those each time), but it does NOT change the size of any of the RB1 through RB4
files. My data always seems to be there, but I’m worried that the file sizes
are static.

Thank you. Cathy
