Thanks for your reply.  The database has been around for a while, (and 
presumably has been converted at some stage), but it used to work without 
any issues. The error occurs when using a form and when using the data 
browser. I can insert a row, so in the meantime I am just using that 
approach so that I can complete a report. (I have unloaded and reloaded the 
database but that didn't resolve the problem.)

I have a few computed columns in the table so when I get a spare minute I 
will see if removing / modifying any of those stops the error occurring. If 
that doesn't work I will see if I can replicate this with a test database 
and send it to RBTI for some expert advice as to what I may be doing wrong.
