That's a neat idea, never saw anyone design a form like that. That's a great idea for a Generic date form.
In this instance, they are always selecting just one date, which is why a calendar is so handy. And of course they do not have to select a second date. It's not a date range, the two dates are used independently for two types of calculations, but the 2nd calculation is not required. I could hide the 2nd calendar and put a button or checkbox for "select 2nd date for receipt date calculation" and then display the calendar.
